Liquid Solid & Gas

WooHoo!
I am so excited! For my final in advanced Choreography at BYU-Idaho, I have made my piece a study of three of the states of matter: liquid, solid, & gas. We had our second rehearsal tonight and I'm liking it so far :) I'm sure there will be some choreo changes but the dancers all look beautiful and I'm excited to move forward with it :)

Alright! So I have FINALLY uploaded all/most of the videos of my modern class at Santa Monica College in Fall 2009. There are some repeats from previous posts but now they are on youtube instead of uploaded to the blog.

I was trying to decide how to lable my videos while the band, Evicting Eden, was over recording with Austin and I asked Stephen what he thought. Somehow with his input I came to the conclusion that I would give the videos people's names as though they are my children :) It's also as though each video is Tally Dally with a certain child. I guess I will take this opportunity to explain the meaning of my alias.

"Tally" is taken from a variation of the last two syllables of my first name, Nathalie, and "Tally Dally" is a variation of "Dilly Dally" and "Nathalie's Dilly Dally." So essentially, "Tally Dally" is my dilly dally :)
Here are some videos:

I'll post more soon :)

BACK!

Ok so after a LONG pause of posts, I am here once again. Here is a hip hop class taught by "Dmoe" Gomez at TOHS. It was an allumni class :) This was sometime in Oct 2010.

So the story is, Austin came home from his two-year Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints this past May 2010. He served in New Jersey (ya baybee!) and he has completely distracted me ever since ;) We got married in December 2010 and now we are in the beautiful Rexburg, Idaho :) Many wonderful dance and music things to come. Pretty Sweet.

What would you ask?

So tomorrow in class a ballet teacher who had an amazing, successful career as a professional ballerina for 30 years will be answering our questions. I have no idea what to ask her. I know she ran companies and studios and lived in many places and knows many famous dancers. I kind of just want to know what it was like to live that kind of life - being the first ballet mistress of Lines, knowing everyone - was it fabulous? Or just normal? Who does she know? How many ballets has she been in? What are the titles of the most modern works she was in so we can look them up on youtube? What are her favorite ballets? None of these things have anything to do with "career-minded future-type-questions" :) but that's what I want to know :) Maybe I can ask some business-like questions... hmmm - can't think of any :) haha well I guess I'll let you know what she says :)

Firsts

I've decided to dedicate this post to some of my "firsts" :)

here is my first (and only) completed painting :) haha I don't enjoy using any wet medium, so it was very much like pulling teeth to get me to complete this, but the long hours of torture paid off with the result :) This acrylic was done for my design and color class at BYU-Idaho in April 2008

This is my first "intense" drawing haha - I've drawn my whole life but this was the first project that I put many hours of rendering into. It was for my life drawing class Jr year of high school. The assignment was to do a portrait on a grid and eliminate some of the squares in a pleasing way. This graphite drawing is based off of a picture I took of my aunt, Lila Stuteville at the wedding of my aunt and uncle Jenalyn and Darren Sullivan in 2005.

The following are some of my first self portraits taken in March 2007. I found through this project that self portraits are really fun to do :) They each have an artistic meaning and reflection of myself.

I unfortunately don't have the video of my first dance I choreographed (when I was eight years old) on the computer, but here is a teaser of a duet that J. Ramos and I choreographed together in December 2009. It gets cut off so you'll have to wait for the finished version :)

Here are some photos from my first "real" tournament (not a youth tournament). I was pretty nervous about it, but it turned out ok. I competed in kata. Western States Nov 2007.
